Contract Awarded for Preventative Maintenance Project of Milton-Madison Bridge

Repairs and waterproofing road surface will preserve bridge life

                                      

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 4, 2024) A contract has been awarded for a preventative maintenance project to extend the life of the Milton-Madison Bridge in Trimble County.

The project is set to begin Monday, March 11, and consists of repairing finger joints, replacing bolts, miscellaneous steel repairs, and waterproofing the bare concrete bridge deck.

Temporary signals will be placed to direct traffic through the work zone and will remain in place through the completion of the project. Drivers should heed the temporary signals, follow posted signs, and reduce speed when navigating through the work zone.

The continuous truss bridge, built in 2014, carries U.S. 421 over the Ohio River between Milton, Ky., and Madison, Ind.

The Truesdell Corporation of Tempe, Az., was awarded the $994,994 contract. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2024.
