Continuing Investigation After Search Warrant Leads to Level One Felony Charge For Dealing Drugs Causing Death

Scott County-On September 11, 2021, the Scott County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at 20 Vintage Circle in Scottsburg after Detective Lieutenant John Hartman of the Scott County Sheriff's Office was able to gather enough probable cause to enter the residence looking for drug dealing related items. After the service of that warrant, three people who lived in the home were arrested, (see previous news release about these arrests).

After the search warrant and arrests the investigation did not stop. While processing evidence from the search warrant the sheriff's office was able to locate information involving an overdose death and also another overdose victim's information who had survived. Both from Scott County. *(The names of these overdoses are only being released to those involved and/or their next of kin).

Lt. John Hartman investigated the information located and conducted several interviews. After concluding his investigation he turned it over to the Scott County Prosecutor's Office who then filed additional charges against Matthew Palmer, 28, of 20 Vintage Circle in Scottsburg, for Dealing in a Narcotic Drug Causing Death and Dealing in a Narcotic Drug. Mathew Palmer is currently incarcerated at the Scott County Jail on Scott County Sheriff's Office charges of MAINTAINING A COMMON NUISANCE, DEALING IN COCAINE OR A NARCOTIC DRUG, POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA, POSSESSION OF COCAINE OR SCHEDULE I OR II NARCOTIC DRUG, DEALING IN A NARCOTIC DRUG CAUSING DEATH AND DEALING IN A NARCOTIC DRUG. This investigation is continuing.

Sheriff Goodin stated, "everyone's life matters and as we continue to investigate other overdose cases, I encourage anyone that knows anything about these cases to contact us at the Sheriff's Office". He went on to say, "these cases are very lengthy, very difficult to solve and very emotional for families". Sheriff Goodin stated, "I am personally reviewing these cases as new evidence flows into our office daily and as always, my door is open if family members wish to contact me direct".

Scott County Sheriff's Office Continues the War on Drugs With Search Warrant in Scottsburg "Three Arrested"

Scott County-On today's date at approximately 8:27 a.m. the Scott County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at 20 Vintage Circle in Scottsburg, IN. As a result, three people were arrested and alleged Heroin and Paraphernalia were located.

Matthew Palmer, 28, of Scottsburg, was arrested for Dealing in Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug, Possession of Cocaine or a Schedule I or II Narcotic Drug, Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Briana Bowman, 28, of Scottsburg, was arrested for Dealing in Cocaine or Narcotic Drug, Possession of Cocaine or Schedule I or II Narcotic Drug, Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Cynthia Doty, 54, of Scottsburg was arrested for Maintaining a Common Nuisance.

All three were incarcerated at the Scott County Jail.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
