FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Continental Mills has issued a recall of buttermilk pancake & waffle mix, sold at Kroger and Walmart stores in Kentucky, due to a potential foreign material contamination, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration announced on Monday.

The FDA says fragments from a cable used to clear the processing line were discovered in a limited amount of product, leading to the alert for products purchased at both Kroger, under their own name in 17 states, and nationwide under the Great Value Brand at Walmart.  The packages are two pounds at both stores.

The affected product has a UPC of 01111088219 at Kroger while the UPC at Walmart is 078742370828. The product lot codes are KX2063 and KX2064, and best by dates of 09/01/2023 and 09/02/2023, respectively.

No contaminated product has been reported by consumers to date, nor have there been any known injuries at this time.

If you have recently purchased any of the products noted above, the company urges you to either dispose of the product immediately, or return it to the store where you purchased it, for a replacement or refund.  For more information or to receive a refund, please call the Continental Mills Recall Phone Hotline at 1-800-578-7832.  Lines are open Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 4 pm, Pacific Time.

Food Safety is the highest priority for Continental Mills, the company said, and that they are acting swiftly for the safety of consumers.  The firm adds, they are also working with the FDA and retailers to ensure any affected product is removed from the marketplace immediately.

Continental Mills headquarters is located in Tukwila, WA, and products are sold through retail, foodservice, and club store channels throughout the United States.
