FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman will be filing her papers to be Gov. Andy Beshear’s running mate in his November re-election bid, during an event taking place at the State Capitol on Tuesday.
Both had said for months that their Democratic ticket would remain the same, but the filing will make things official. The two had confirmed they will speak at the Fancy Farm Picnic and political speaking event on August 5.
Prior to her filing of papers in the Secretary of State‘s office, Coleman is scheduled to be joined by public school educators for a press conference in the Capitol Rotunda.
Republican challenger Daniel Cameron, who is currently Kentucky’s Attorney General, has not yet named his running mate and the deadline is the week after Fancy Farm. However, officials with the picnic say that if the papers for Cameron’s running mate are filed prior to the event, he or she will also have a spot reserved on the speakers’ list.
