Closure moves north for S.R. 7 box culvert replacement and maintenance project in Jennings County

Project should be complete by October 31st

The current closure south of Turkey Run on S.R. 7 in Jennings County will move north next week as crews begin work on the second of four box culverts between the Jefferson/Jennings County line and Vernon.

On or after Monday, August 26, S.R. 7 will close 3.51 miles north of the county line at Turkey Run for a box culvert replacement. The road will reopen at the location of the first culvert, which is just to the south (3.16 miles north of the Jefferson/Jennings County line). The new closure is scheduled for approximately 30 days.

The official state detour for the closure is S.R. 3 to S.R. 256. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use caution in and near the work zone. The project is expected to be complete by October 31, 2019. All work is weather dependent.

Dave O'Mara Contractor Inc. was awarded the project for $1.4 million in August 2018.

Additional closures are planned at the following locations, and will take place after completion of work at each culvert, moving south to north:

  • 11.67 miles north of S.R. 250, just south of Crosley Fish and Wildlife Area (replacement)
  • 5.71 miles north of Jefferson/Jennings County line, approximately one mile south of S.R. 3/ S.R. 7 split (maintenance/repair)
