Madison, Indiana (December 27, 2021) - The City of Madison announced today the hiring of a Director of Economic Development, Tony Steinhardt, III. Steinhardt, formerly a managing partner on the RATIO Design Executive Committee, will join the city on January 3, 2022. Steinhardt, a native of Madison, has an extensive history with the city and a thorough knowledge of our economic development opportunities. He previously worked for the city in the mid-1990s as Special Projects Administrator under Mayor Wooden and was responsible for establishing our Redevelopment Commission and TIF Zone. In 1997, Steinhardt pursued a career with RATIO, where he advanced to the Chief Marketing Officer and Managing Partner. “I am excited to be in a position to help the City of Madison grow. After 25 years of growing a top Indiana design firm and helping dozens of communities improve their quality of life through development, I look forward to leveraging those experiences and personal network for Madison,” said Steinhardt. As the director of economic development, Steinhardt will work closely with the mayor, city council, legislators, and local business and industry leaders to promote economic growth in our community. He will lead our Redevelopment and Economic Development Commissions to establish priorities and execute strategies to actively promote a community-based investment model for the City of Madison through business development, workforce development, and community development. “I look forward to having someone of Tony’s experience join our team. Tony will make an immediate impact implementing our community-based investment model, working on industry expansion, executing the READI grant projects, and partnering with city leaders to leverage economic development opportunities in our community. It is a bonus that he is a native Madisonian who understands our community needs and has been working with our community in a professional capacity on numerous projects,” said Madison’s Mayor Bob Courtney.
