(Madison, Ind.) - Mayor Bob Courtney announced today, City of Madison public meetings will resume inside City Hall Council Chambers, and the community is welcome to attend.

“During these unprecedented times, we, like many others around us, have had to make accommodations to allow for the continuation of essential city business. When we entered Stage 3 of the governor’s “Back on Track Indiana Plan,” crowd-size gathering restrictions were modified, allowing the city to resume all public meetings and for the public to be able to attend in person,” said Mayor Courtney.

Due to social distancing requirements, there will be a limited number of seats available inside the Council Chambers. However, the city is making accommodations by arranging two overflow rooms in the case that the limit is exceeded. Individuals in the overflow rooms will still be given the opportunity to share their public comments during the meeting.

“We believe it is important that all community members have the opportunity to participate in city public meetings. We understand there are individuals in our community who may not feel comfortable attending public meetings at this time. Until all restrictions have been lifted, we will continue to accept public comment via email from those individuals,” said Mayor Courtney.

All meetings are published on the City of Madison calendar, which can be found at Madison-in.gov. Agendas will be made available prior to the meetings. Those wishing to submit public comments via email can do so by emailing community@madison-in.gov
