(Madison, Ind.) - Mayor Bob Courtney is excited to announce that the City of Madison was awarded a Community Crossings grant from the State of Indiana that will help fund the city’s upcoming street resurfacing projects.

“We are extremely grateful the state provides municipalities the opportunity to apply and receive funding that allows us to invest in our communities,” said Mayor Bob Courtney. “This award provides the City of Madison with the needed funding to improve roughly 45 city streets across our community.”

The city will receive $721,817 in a 50% matching grant from the state for a total investment of $1.4 million. The funding will be primarily used to mill and resurface approximately six miles of city streets in our local neighborhoods and subdivisions. The city plans to begin the bidding process for the City of Madison 2020 Paving Project next week.

The goal is to complete the improvements of all targeted streets by the end of the year.

“A clean, safe, and beautiful neighborhood creates a more vibrant community and higher quality of life. The resurfacing project funded by the annual Community Crossings Grant, along with the upcoming targeted neighborhood revitalization program, our expanded sidewalk improvement project, and our ongoing economic development strategies emphasize our commitment to making Madison the safest community to live, work, visit, and raise a family,” said Mayor Courtney
