CITY MOVES FORWARD WITH CRYSTAL BEACH PLANS

REHABLITATING CRYSTAL BEACH

THE CITY OF MADISON IS MOVING FORWARD WITH PLANS TO REHABLITATE CRYSTAL BEACH DESPITE ALL THE BIDS TO DO SO WERE WELL ABOUT THE 2 MILLION DOLLAR GRANT AMOUNT, A GRANT THAT WAS AWARDED BY THE INDIANA OFFICE OF COMMUNITY AND RURAL AFFAIRS(OCRA).

BIDS RECEIVED WERE FROM POOLE GROUP OF DILLSBORO,INDIANA WITH THE LOWEST BID OF $2,527,000,WHICH IN TURN THEY WERE AWARDED THE PROJECT BECAUSE OF HAVING THE LOWEST BID, TETON CORPORATION OF MADISON PLACED A BID $2,656,000 AND CALHOUN CONSTRUCTION OF LOUISVILLE SUBMITTED A BID OF $2,966,000. 

MAYOR BOB COURTNEY SAID THE BIDS WERE EFFECTIVE 60 DAYS AND HE WANTED TO ACT ON THEM WE DON'T WANT TO LOSE A LOW BID EVEN THOUGH IT WENT OVER THE PROJECTED BUDGET. THE CITY DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE ON THE PROJECT OR FUND IT THEMSELVES.
