(Madison, Ind.) - In light of recent events and out of an abundance of caution, the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce will be canceling all of our events through April 30th. We have not made this decision lightly and will do our best to reschedule. As we add these events back to the calendar, we will be sure to let everyone know. As of now, the next Chamber event will be the golf outing taking place on May 15.
We are canceling events of all sizes because, at this time, the best way to combat COVID-19 is to limit the spread. While we are proud of everything we do at the Chamber, none of our events are worth risking your health or worth placing additional burdens on our healthcare providers as a result of unnecessary contact that we facilitated. We hope everyone will understand and we can't wait to get back to business as usual in May.
We ask that if you need in-person services from the Chamber (bulk mailing, notary services, etc.) in the next few weeks, please make an appointment. We will not be making in-person business visits unless necessary, but we will be reaching out via phone and email. We are encouraging our community to purchase gift cards to support local businesses now, and have provided a list of member businesses where they can be purchased. We encourage businesses to support each other and share resources and tips (join our Member Facebook Group if you haven’t yet). Please let us know what you are doing to protect your business and your employees. Tell us your story. Let us know what else we can do to help. Take our survey to provide that information: https://www.madisonindiana.com/form/view/19328.
The next few weeks will be a unique time for us as a community. It will likely be particularly difficult for our small business owners and their employees who rely on all of us to participate in local commerce. Our businesses are resilient, but they need our help. If you have opportunities to buy local, strongly consider it. Once we're back to business as usual, make a concerted effort to spend your dollars in Jefferson County. Shop here, eat here, and tip well. While there is likely to be some disruption in all of our lives over the coming weeks, if we come together we can minimize the impact and help each other through a once in a lifetime challenge.
Thank you,
Lindsay S. Bloos, Executive Director
Madison Area Chamber of Commerce
