Carrollton, Ky. - June 28, 2021 - Natalie Brown, Ed.D., has been named the new principal of Carroll County High School. Brown comes to the Carroll County School District from Waggener High School in the Jefferson County Public School system, where she serves as director of instruction.
"Dr. Brown comes to us with a wealth of experience across a number of different positions," said Superintendent Danny Osborne. "We are excited to have her join our team, and we are looking forward to a great year with her at the helm of the high school. Ms. Brown's experience at the school level and the state level makes her a perfect fit for our district."
Brown began her career in education as an English teacher at Louisville Male High School in Jefferson County. She served as a teacher there from 2002 to 2011, where she taught grades 9 through 12, served as a writing cluster leader, a site-based decision making council member and a member of the hiring committee. In 2012, she moved to the Kentucky Department of Education, where she served as an education recovery specialist. In that role, she assisted school staff in different districts with school improvement, specifically with a focus on literacy needs. Her work helped ensure that school curriculum was aligned to state standards and that schools were working systematically to improve their instruction.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work in such a close-knit community with great folks who I know care deeply about the rituals and traditions of CCHS,” said Dr. Brown. “It’s always been a passion of mine to meet students where they are and help propel them toward future success, whether that be college, career, trade school, military or a successful work experience,” continued Dr. Brown. “I know that I will have the opportunity to continue fulfilling that passion working with the students, staff, families and community of Carroll County High School.”
Brown earned a doctorate from the University of Louisville in 2018 in the field of educational leadership. She also holds two master’s degrees from Bellarmine University: one in education and the other in educational leadership. She is also a 1997 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in communication disorders.
Brown's duties as principal begin July 1.
