Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members:
Carroll County SchoolDistrict schools will be closed Monday, March 16, through Friday, April 10, in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, also known as “the coronavirus.”All extracurricular activities are canceled for this period of time. We plan to resume our regular schedule of face-to-face classes on Monday, April 13. However, we will release more information as it becomes available.
There are fifteen scheduled school days between March 16 and our scheduled spring break, which is the week of April 6. Our plan is to deliver instruction through our Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) model for those fifteen school days. Your child’s school will be in contact to provide assignments and instructional support for these days.
We do understand that not all students have Internet access, and our schools are planning accordingly.
I do not take this decision to close our schools lightly. I know that some parents struggle to find adequate childcare, and apologize in advance for the significant inconvenience and hardship that closure like this is sure to cause. However, safety is my first priority.
To ensure that no child goes hungry during this time, we will provide pickup meals for students each school day from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the main entrance of Carroll County High School. Meals can be picked up by driving to the front entrance of CCHS. A staff member will deliver the food to the car, and a packaged breakfast will be included. Students will not be allowed to eat at school.
These meals are optional and are available for all of our students. Again, I apologize for this disruption and I hope that everyone stays healthy.
