Safety precautions will be in place when students return to school in person on October 12.

(Carrollton, Ky.) - At its September 24 meeting, the Carroll County Board of Education set Oct. 12 as the new return-to-school date. All students have the option to return to 100% in-person instruction on October 12. Classes will be held five days per week for a full school day.

All students currently learning through the In-Person / Distance Learning model will return to school in person on October 12 unless they decide to switch to Virtual School. Students currently learning through the Virtual School model may switch to In-Person learning if they wish. Families have until September 30 to decide if they will switch instructional models. To switch instructional models, families should contact their child’s school. If families are not changing instructional models, they do not need to contact their child’s school.

“We have good data from our local health department on the COVID-19 infection rate in our community,” said Superintendent Danny Osborne. “Our daily case rate is below 1 per 100,000 population. Based upon guidance from the Kentucky Department of Education, this puts us in the “green zone,” which means that we are “On Track” and doing well as a community. I am so happy our students can return to school soon. Kids need the fun, the learning, and the socialization that they can only get in school.”

“We have known all along that COVID-19 would force us to constantly reevaluate our plans,” Osborne said. “I am thankful that we get to make a change here that allows us to interact with students again. I know our students are excited to see their friends and their teachers.”
