Canaan Community To Hold Veterans Day Program

Wreath Laying Ceremony will be held after program at cemetery

Canaan Community Academy will be having our Veterans Day Program on November 8, 2024 at 9:oo A.M. in the gymnasium.

We would like to invite you and any staff to attend this program. Please let us know if any of your staff or family members have served in the Armed Forces;  our Student Council would like to add their names to the Wall of Honor.

Light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP by November 5, 2024 by calling Canaan Community Academy at 812-839-0003, or email Patty Lee at plee@canaanca.com .

The Canaan program is student-led and very personal to every student. They take great pride in honoring the Veterans. This is a schoolwide program with special presentations from each class. The classes may have songs, cards, poems, and/or writings to perform. The 7th grade students will be presenting the White Table Ceremony at the end of the program.

Immediately following the program eighth graders will perform a Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Canaan Cemetery. Veterans are encouraged to attend; this will begin with a procession to the cemetery. Veterans may walk in the procession or ride to the cemetery in the shuttle. The 8th grade students will be performing the Wreath Laying Ceremony. Veteran’s Day Program 2023 was the first year ever, a Wreath Laying Ceremony was performed at the Canaan Cemetery and the first in the state of Indiana for a student-led Wreath Laying Ceremony. This is very moving; our students consider this a great honor and hold the ceremony in high regard.

We would be honored if you, your relatives and friends who have served in the Armed Forces would join us in celebrating our Veterans. From the entire Canaan Community Academy Family, we thank you in advance for your service.
