(Carrollton, Ky.) - Starting July 1, Ms. Brandi Boothby will begin her work as principal of Cartmell Elementary School. Boothby currently serves as a middle/high assistant principal in Eminence Independent Schools. Prior to her time as a principal, she served as an elementary school teacher at Eminence Elementary School.

“Ms. Boothby is a great addition to our leadership team and a dynamic new principal for Cartmell Elementary School,” said Superintendent Danny Osborne. “With Ms. Rohrer moving to the supervisor of instruction position, we knew we had to identify an exceptional principal to build on the great things happening at Cartmell. I am excited to see what the future holds both for the school and our school district.”

As assistant principal and district safety coordinator for Eminence Middle and High School, Boothby combined facilities, academic, and community relations duties in one position. In addition to facilitating department team meetings, implementing Positive Behavior Intervention Supports and supervising teachers, Boothby served as district-level Safe Crisis Management coordinator and school safety coordinator. Before her time as a principal, she taught several elementary grades and specialized in mathematics elementary instruction.

“I am elated to be coming to the Carroll County School District,” Boothby said. “We recently moved to Ghent, and we love the area and the community. As principal, I want to build a place where students and teachers are excited about learning and where everyone participates in creating a growth-mindset culture. Getting started at Cartmell, I want to focus on supporting teachers, especially through individualized, personalized, and flexible professional development. For students, the school has done a great job of creating a positive social-emotional environment through the house program, and I am excited to continue that as we work toward increasing proficiency in both reading and mathematics.”

Boothby is a 2008 graduate of the University of Louisville, where she studied elementary education with a concentration in learning and behavioral disorders. She went on to earn a master’s degree and an educational specialist credential from the University of Kentucky in teacher leadership (2014), school technology leadership (2014), and principalship (2016).

“A great principal combines knowledge with an outstanding ability to connect with people,” Osborne said. “I know that the students, staff, and community are going to love Ms. Boothby. Great things are in store for Cartmell Elementary, and I can’t wait for the school year to begin.”

Boothby resides in Ghent, Kentucky, on her miniature farm.
