Republican incumbent Matt Bevin's campaign is requesting an official re-canvass after the general election.
Bevin says there were multiple irregularities in Tuesday's vote totals, including absentee ballots.
Democratic challenger Attorney General Andy Beshear has claimed victory after appearing to win the race by about 51-hundred votes.
The difference between the two candidates' totals is about one-half of one percent of the total vote.
