Non Lethal force was used during the incident
In the early morning hours on January 28, 2025, Jefferson County Central Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a Domestic Violence incident that occurred at 2357 North K Road.
Deputies attempted to make contact with a male later identified as Charles Griswold (40) of Madison, inside of his RV camper trailer parked at the location.
Griswold came to the window, looked out the blinds, then retreated back into the camper.
Griswold refused to comply or acknowledge any order given by the deputies.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for the property and continued to try to communicate with Griswold over the loud speaker, however he failed comply with any order given.
After approximately 45 minutes deputies administered less lethal chemical munitions inside the RV.
Griswold still refused to come outside.
Deputies forced entry into the side door of the RV, where Griswold was taken into custody without further incident.
Griswold was transported to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Jail and was preliminarily charged with:
Level 4 Felony Criminal Confinement
Level 5 Felony Intimidation
Level 6 Felony Domestic Battery with a previous conviction
Level 6 Felony Strangulation
Misdemeanor Resisting Law Enforcement
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the City of Madison Police Department.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
