ATV Benefit Ride To Honor David Hewitt Happens August 1

Hewitt has been awarded inclusion into the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in DC. Proceeds will assist his family with travel expenses.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Former Rising Sun Police Chief David Hewitt has been awarded inclusion to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial honors 21,183 law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

In 2019 Hewitt passed away following a single-vehicle accident crash on State Road 56 just south of Vevay.

Now, community members are invited to participate in an ATV ride benefit to honor his memory and to help send his family to our nation’s capital.

The ATV benefit ride will be taking place on Saturday, August 1 at the Ohio County Fairgrounds in Rising Sun.

Registration will be taking place from 9:30 a.m. until noon with the ride beginning at 12:15 p.m.

The cost of this event is $25 per unit and includes two meal tickets. For an additional rider and meal ticket, it is $10. Children 12 and under may participate for free.

There will also be a silent auction and t-shirts available for purchase.

All proceeds will go to assisting Chief Hewitt’s family with travel expenses to Washington, D.C.
