(Trimble County, Ky.) – As students and staff are planning for their return to school in August, it will be necessary for students to wear a face covering.
Trimble County Schools stated that students and staff will keep their mask on in instances where proper social distancing can’t be practiced, and in many classrooms.
“Please know that we realize that students and staff will need opportunities to take off their masks,” the school stated. “It is unrealistic to expect students and staff to wear face-covering the entire school day.”
The school is currently encouraging teachers to develop schedules to rotate students from classrooms to outdoor learning spaces throughout the school day to ensure that masks breaks can be taken.
The school has released information on different types of face coverings that have been approved by the Kentucky Department of Education and the KY Department of Health.
Students with a documented medical diagnosis of respiratory issues, or asthma or have a medical waiver will not have to wear a face covering, but will be required to wear a face shield, per recommendations by the Kentucky Department of Education and the KY Department of Health.
The school is recommending that you begin to work with your student(s) on how to wear a face-covering properly for 45 minutes to an hour at a time.
