Applications must be turned into the Jefferson County Commissioners’ Office by April 9.
(Madison, Ind.) – Calling all turkey hunting enthusiasts!
Applications are now open for the Jefferson County Western Wooded Parcel turkey hunt. The goal of this managed hunt is to provide opportunities for outdoor recreation and to help maintain the quality of habitat within Jefferson County’s Western Wooded Parcel.
If you are interested in taking part in these hunts, you must be 18 or older with a valid state turkey license. A mandatory “buddy” system will be required allowing up to 6 hunters in the parcel on any given hunt. The buddy does not need to be a county resident.
For each two-day hunt, three applications will be drawn.
Hunters will need to stay within the boundaries of the Western Wooded Parcel and will not be permitted to track turkeys outside of the boundaries of the parcel or risk forfeiture of hunting privileges and possible legal action for trespassing.
Interested hunters will be required to submit an applications request form specifying which 2-day hunt they are interested in along with a $10 non-refundable fee.
Each applicant may submit only one application for each of the two weekends. If you wish to be drawn for all weekends, you must submit three forms and a $10 fee for each.
All checks can be made payable to the Jefferson County Treasurer. Applications are due by April 9 to the Jefferson County Commissioners Office.
