Applications must be turned into the Jefferson County Commissioners’ Office by September 18.
(Jefferson County, Ind.) – Deer hunters get ready because applications are now open for the Jefferson County Park Board managed hunting in the Western Wood Parcel.
The goal of this managed hunt is to provide opportunities for outdoor recreation and to help maintain the quality of habitat within Jefferson County’s Western Wooded Parcel.
If you are interested in taking part in these hunts, you must be 18 or older with a valid state deer license. A mandatory “buddy” system will be required allowing up to 6 hunters in the Western Wooded Parcel on any given hunt. The buddy does not need to be a county resident and may be under 18.
For each two-day hunt, three applications will be drawn.
While hunting, state hunting regulations will apply. Hunters must stay within the boundaries of the Western Wooded Parcel and will not be permitted to track deer outside of the boundaries of the parcel.
If outside the boundaries of the parcel, hunters will risk forfeiture of hunting privileges and possible legal action for trespassing.
Interested hunters can submit their application for specifying the 2-day hunt they are interested in along with a $10 non-refundable fee for each 2-day hunt.
All checks are to be made out to the Jefferson County Treasurer. Applications must be turned into the Jefferson County Commissioners’ Office by September 18.
