(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The American Red Cross is inviting Indiana Children to participate in their virtual emergency preparedness program.

Students grades 3-5 are welcome to take place in the Pillowcase Project which aims to increase kids’ awareness and understanding of natural hazards. This class also teaches kids safety, emotional coping skills, and personal preparedness.

With students across the state, the Indiana Region of the American Red Cross has adapted this course, which is typically presented in classrooms, to a virtual format. This is to ensure all children will have the opportunity to learn this critical information.

This program also features interactive lessons which focus on home fire prevention and safety, and other potential hazards such as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes. All lessons are based on what might occur in the community where the classes are being taught.

The American Red Cross has now announced its summer Pillowcase Projects.
