Accident Near Holton Closes HWY 50

At Michigan Road

Officials in Ripley Co. investigating a crash with injuries that has closed U.S. 50 west of Versailles.

The multiple vehicle crash occurred just after 7:00 a.m. this morning near Michigan Road, east of Holton.

No further details were immediately available.

A Versailles woman was hospitalized following a two-vehicle wreck that closed U.S. 50 Tuesday morning.

 

The wreck happened at around 7:10 a.m. at the intersection with Michigan Road. It involved vehicles driven by Tracy Meisberger, of Versailles, and Jessica Richards, of Holton.

Meisberger told Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies that she was driving westbound on U.S. 50 when Richards pulled out in front of her from Michigan Road. Meisberger was unable to avoid the collision.

Deputies said Meisberger was taken to the hospital with apparent non-life threatening injuries.

Richards was not hurt.

The crash closed U.S. 50 for about an hour as emergency workers cleared the scene.

Indiana State Police, Versailles Fire Department, Rescue 69, and Ripley County Paramedic assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
