A JENNINGS COUNTY MAN DIES IN SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT

Vehicle struck a ditch before becoming airborne and rolling multiple times.

On September 18th, 2021 at 5:09 P.M., Jennings County Deputies responded to the area of County Road 500 North in Geneva Township after Jennings County Dispatch received several 911 calls regarding a single-vehicle rollover crash.

The initial investigation by Sergeant Cody Low indicates that Shane Clarkson (46 of North Vernon) was driving a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Westbound on County Road 500 North when the vehicle left the Northside of the roadway. The vehicle struck a ditch before becoming airborne and rolling multiple times. Clarkson was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. Clarkson was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jennings County Coroner. Drugs and Alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, however speed and failure to use seatbelt are contributing factors.

Family has been notified.
