Alan Jackson Misses 2018 ACM Honors Due to Respiratory Infection

Cancels two concert stops

Alan Jackson missed the 2018 ACM Honors on Wednesday night (Aug. 22) due to illness, but the singer was well represented nonetheless. Jackson's daughter, singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton and more helped honor the country icon during the ceremony.

Those who attended the 2018 ACM Honors ceremony likely noticed Jackson's absence: He was this year's ACM Cliffie Stone Icon Award recipient, in honor of how he's grown country music in popularity, in various ways, throughout his lengthy career. During the ceremony, co-hosts Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi sang Jackson's song "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow," while Stapleton performed "Here in the Real World." Jackson's oldest daughter, Mattie, accepted her father's honor on his behalf.

Jackson's respiratory infection also led to the cancelled two concert stops on Aug. 16 and 17. In his note on social media, the singer says he's "on the mend and will be back to normal soon!"
