A Versailles man faces multiple surgeries and a long recovery after an accident in Ripley County on Saturday evening. Ripley County Sheriff’s Department says around 5:30 on Saturday, 20-year-old Kelsey Brandes of Versailles was traveling westbound on Tanglewood Road in Versailles when her vehicle went left of center, striking a moped driven by Versailles native Carl Wagner that was heading eastbound.

Wagner, 58, was thrown from the moped and sustained multiple injuries as a result. He was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati hospital where he continues to be treated while Brandes was treated at the scene. Brandes was cited at the scene for driving left of center and having no valid insurance.
