Several Members Of Southwestern Cross Country Team Rescued At Clifty Falls State Park

Members of the Southwestern High School Cross Country team were on a outing at Clifty Falls State Park Friday evening when several members fell down a hill while a team picture was being taken.

The team was at the Oak Grove area near the center of the park. It was reported that eight members were standing on a fallen tree when it shifted and they fell down the hill to the ravine.

Emergency personnel was dispatched around 7:44 to the scene.

One students were taken to the Kings Daughters Hospital but no official word on the extent of their injuries, with one taken to Norton’s Children’s Hospital with their injuries. The others rescued were released to their parents.

The final runner was rescued around 10pm.

Southwestern’s first meet is scheduled at the Beast Of The Southeast at Rising Sun next Saturday.
