Mike Brown Named Boys Basketball Coach At Shawe Memorial

Shawe Memorial High School is proud to announce the hiring of Mike Brown as the new Boys Basketball coach.  Coach Brown comes to Shawe after 30 + years of coaching including 468 wins so far in his coaching career. Brown had a combined record of 6-42 from 2015 to this past season at South Dearborn.

Coach Brown will replace Phil Kahn, who served as the interim coach of the Boys Basketball team for 2 seasons.

“We are very excited to be able to announce the hiring of Mike Brown as our new boys basketball coach at Shawe.  The resume speaks for itself.  Coach Brown will bring a system that has worked at several locations and we believe that it can work at Shawe as well.  The players, parents, assistant coaches, and administrators are all excited to see Coach Brown in action and see where he can take our program.”

“I would like to thank Phil Kahn for stepping in when we needed him as interim head coach.  We wanted to make sure we found the right person for the job, and we believe we did just that with Coach Brown.”

Brown was an assistant coach at Madison under Gary Merrill back in the 80’s. Shawe is his 7th school since 1985. His biggest accomplishments came as Paoli’s boys basketball coach winning 9 sectional and 7 regional championships as well as the 1999 semi-state and was state runner-up. With the Rams, Brown was 294-113 in 13 seasons.

Shawe boys basketball comes off of a season where they finished 1-22, but the future is bright for the Hilltoppers.

Coach Brown met with the team and parents on Monday and will be getting started with the program beginning this week.
