Men’s Basketball: Hanover College at Butler University

Hanover College Men’s Basketball finished the 2016-17 year with a 26-4 overall record and 16-2 mark in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Blue and Red also advanced to the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament Sectional Championship and finished 7th in the final DIII rankings. The magical year for HC also included the regular season and tournament conference championships.


The Panthers will get a early chance to dig their claws into the 2017-18 season as they play a exhibition game on Saturday, October 28th against the Butler University Bulldogs at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.


The Bulldogs were 25-9 last season and lost to North Carolina in the “Sweet 16” was 13th in the nation.


Hanover and Butler played a exhibition game in 2010 which the Bulldogs won 80-41 and a regular season game in 2012 again falling to Butler 97-73. Both of those games were coached by Jon Miller for Hanover and Brad Stevens for Butler.


On November 27, 1995 David Benter hit the rim and missed a 3 pointer at the buzzer as the Panthers fell to the Bulldogs 56-53. Current Hanover College head coach Jon Miller was a player on that squad while Barry Collier was the coach at Butler.


Panthers will return their entire line-up from last season minus Corey Muchmore. Butler will have a new head coach in LaVall Jordan.
