MAN ARRESTED TRYING TO TRADE METH FOR TRUCK ON FACEBOOK
On Saturday December 2nd, 2017 Sr. Ptl. Ricky Harris began communicating with a subject via Facebook about a vehicle for sale. During the conversation the male subject spoke about trading methamphetamine and money for the vehicle. Sr. Ptl. Harris identified the subject he was communicating with through the Facebook profile as Brandon Reffett. Brandon was unaware he was communicating with Sr. Ptl. Harris.
During the conversation Brandon offered to purchase the used vehicle for $140.00 and 2.5 grams of methamphetamine. Arrangements were made through Facebook to conduct the transaction at Murphys Gas Station in Wal-Mart parking lot. Based on the arranged transaction, Sr. Ptl. Harris and Ptl. Phillip Wimpee went to Wal-Mart and waited for Brandon to arrive. While Sr. Ptl. Harris was waiting in an unmarked police vehicle, Ptl. Wimpee observed Brandon arrive at Murphys. Ptl. Wimpee was familiar with Brandon based on previous encounters.
Officers approached and made contact with Brandon. During the investigation officers located approximately 2.5 grams of Methamphetamine and $140.00 on Brandon. Based on the agreed transaction Brandon was placed under arrest.
