Jennings County Crash Claims Life of North Vernon Man

North Vernon-Yesterday, at approximately 6:00 pm, the Indiana State Police and Jennings County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on County Road 450 West near US 50 that claimed the life of a North Vernon man.

The initial investigation by Trooper Matt Holley, Indiana State Police-Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team, indicated that a 2012 Hyundai Accent being driven by Travis D. Green, age 31, North Vernon, Indiana was traveling northbound on County Road 450 West, approximately a half mile south of US 50.  For an unknown reason, Green, who was the lone occupant, lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree.  The vehicle then came to rest on the edge of County Road 450 West where the vehicle caught fire.  Green sustained fatal injuries in the crash.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jennings County Coroner’s Office.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing.  It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Travis Green’s family has been notified.
