The Hanover football team dropped its season opener at home Saturday afternoon, falling to Centre (Ky.), 27-14. For the first time since Oct. 17, 2015 a Panther recorded at least 20 tackles, with freshman Kyle Treber (Mishawaka, Ind.) making 20 stops in his Hanover debut. Hanover will hit the road next weekend for the first of two straight away from home, as they travel to Maryville (Tenn.). The Panthers and Scots are set for a 1 p.m. kickoff next Saturday, Sept. 9.

One day after starting the season with a pair of wins over Heidelberg (Ohio) and Kalamazoo (Mich.), the Hanover volleyball team added two more wins over Adrian (Mich.) and Wheaton (Ill.) on day two of the Sommer Center Spiketacular to win all four matches on the first weekend of the 2017 season. The 4-0 start marks the first time in over 10 years that the Panthers have started the season with four straight wins. Hanover will look for its fifth win in its home-opener Tuesday, Sept. 5 against Spalding. The match is set to start at 7 p.m. in Collier Arena.

With just under 15 minutes to play in a scoreless match, junior Cassidy Evanson (Carmel, Ind.) scored to give the Hanover women’s soccer team a 1-0 win over Aurora (Ill.) in the Chelsea Lloyd Memorial Classic. The win is the first of the 2017 season for the Panthers as they improve to 1-1 after falling to Kalamazoo (Mich.) 2-0 in the opener. The Panthers will return home Wednesday, Sept. 6 for their first home match of the season against Spalding (Ky.).

After dropping its season-opener DePauw 2-0, the Hanover men’s soccer team bounced back for a 3-1 win over Thomas More for its first win of the fall. Hanover, now 1-1 overall, will return home to host Otterbein (Ohio) Saturday, Sept. 9.
