Former IU And Current NBA Rookie Standout Named Parade Grand Marshall
At last night’s Madison Regatta meeting it was announced that former IU and current Dallas Mavericks basketball standout, Yogi Ferrell will serve as this year’s parade Grand Marshall.
Ferrell graduated from Park Tudor High School where he led his team to two IHSAA 2A State Basketball Title. He played at IU from 2012-2016.
Drafted by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2016 NBA Draft he signed in August but was released in October. In January of this year Ferrell signed a 10-day contract with Dallas then became just the third undrafted rookie in NBA history to have a 30-point game within his first 15 games, he was signed to a full contact in February.
On March 2, 2017, he was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in February. He led all Western Conference rookies in scoring (12.0 ppg), assists (4.7 apg) and minutes (31.5 mpg) in February.
The Regatta parade will be Friday night, June 30 on Main Street in Downtown Madison starting at 7pm.
